Reply to "Transforming Guyana's Agriculture Sector"

While the traditional sectors have been the backbone of the economy, Government has embarked on a massive diversification programme, with the aim of expanding and developing sub-sectors. This has reaped major successes, over the years, as significant investments continue to be made to ensure advanced technologies are implemented.
In 2011, $9.2B was allocated to the agriculture sector, compared to $8B in the previous year. This has aided in the successful delivery of planned programes, under the Ministry's capital and current expenditure.
Huge sums are also being spent on training, to assist with good agricultural practices and improved productivity. $13,192 farmers in the ten administrative regions.
