The P.P.P/C Government has over the years, remained instrumental in the development of requisite policies and programmes, to foster the type of growth and expansion that has catapulted the sector to a position where it has surpasses the level of being food secure to large scale exploration of agriculture produce.
Enhance emphasis continues to be placed on the implementation of a successful agriculture diversification strategy, as the administration remains committed to the promotion of non-traditional crops and livestock which have potential for expansion.
New and emerging sectors of the economy, which will increase contribution to the national economy, are also being expanded, to complement the performance of the traditional sectors, rice sugar and bauxite. This year, $1.5B has been allocated for agriculture diversification compared to $1.3B for 2010
