Leelawatie Singh, born in Berbice, Guyana in 1931, passed away in the Bronx a few days ago. She was famous for traversing the five boroughs and Jersey---and even making her way as far as Canada and Florida---to assist at every wedding, wake or puja in the family, finding her own way by bus, subway and PATH train if no one was there to give her a ride.
