He holds a lot of promise and one of the few redeeming qualities of this regime. He will make a difference in education. Let's hope the PNC hardliners don't do to him what they did to the turncoat.
Not trying to depreciate what he has done in the past, but what changes is he promoting or making in the Ministry of Education that will change the Ministry and schools into effective learning organizations? I am on holidays so there might be things of which I am unaware.
He has started by having a bottom-up teacher, parents, student, community leaders meetings to begin to flesh out the issues as seen and felt at the source. Improving the overall education system, quality and effectiveness will take a multilateral approach at both top-down and bottom up levels. Throwing money is not the only solution but understanding the challenges at the grass-root level will ensure more effectiveness.
No one can vouch how it will pan-out but engagement of all stakeholders are the correct approach.
