Excellent response from Minister Ramjattan. I do not see eye to eye with Ramjattan but I always give jack his jacket. Citizens have to start lodging complaints and the use of social media and recording of incidents should be tools used by citizens to reinforce their case and complaints.

The minister should insist that the head of the force send out memos and implement better training of officers. They are there to serve and protect citizens and not harass them.

No one can see eye to eye with Ramjattan.  It’s not physically possible.  But as the Minister of Security, shouldn’t he ensure that officers are properly trained?

Well, they took a lot of equipment from China, the officer was probably using one of those Chinese Motorcycles. Yes, I agree that Ramjattan is responsible for training, in fact the AFC weeder gang was complaining that the PPP refused training but it appears as if the AFC weeder gang training did not work since this officer displace a lack of training when handling this matter.

I agree that the behaviour of the lawyer was excessive but one needs to understand the frustration experienced daily by Guyanese who are being forced by Police officers to pay bribes.

That office will now think twice about trying to shake down another citizen in expectation of receiving a bribe.

My only question though is, had that person been an Indo, would the officer have handled the incident differently ?

I clearly remember an AFC top dawg weeder gang Lawyer CharanASS being harassed by a police officer and he had to run to the media like a lil girl and cry up that he was harassed by the police. Ganger did squat, nada, nothing about it.

Guyana is a very interesting country.
