For as long as I can remember, educators in the US have argued that kids who participate in sports do better in school. That said, there are kids motivated to participate in school as well as other extra curricular activities. There are others who prefer only school while there are those who are lungeras and are of no use to themselves or others. So why are we having a cow about this kid?

In fact there is a new concept called STEAM.  Creativity as well as innovativeness is important for success.

Starting to school at 6:30AM and ending at 7:00PM and then doing homework doesn't allow a rounded personality to develop.

Guyanese are still trapped in the notion that "brilliant scholars" are what's needed.  No what is needed are brilliant people with rounded personalities. Academics yes, but also other activities.
