The Indian workers were taken from regions where the locals had equivalent skills to the former slaves that they were replacing. That means cane cutting, rice farming, and cotton harvesting. Skelly seems to have had forefathers who embellished the info in their CV in order to escape poverty in Asia.

They went and made an honest living and paved the way for people like us in NA. As I said, I am eternally grateful that they migrated from India to British Guiana. They made an honest living there and their descendants continue to work hard and carry on their traits.
