quote:Jagdeo had totalitarian power and acted like a pontiff, micromanaging everything to the exclusion of all other parties, political and civil. That is why the PPP imploded and why the destruction of their patronage system has begun. The only nonsense uttered here is from an addled brained fool with little knowledge of the constitution of our country and the scope of power it awards an executive president and how it can be misused by an individual as Jagdeo.
First of all, the PPP did not implode. It won the elections with almost 49% of the popular votes casted. Secondly, Jagdeo had no balls to govern Guyana they way he ought to. Many in the AFC who were once on the ROAR platform lambasted the Jagdeo for being too soft on the opposition. They said he did not have the political will to deal with the opposition and other problems such as the AFro-Dominated Judiciary and security forces. This is all true. How can a head of state be totaltarian when he cannot command the loyalty of the security forces and the judiciary.... too main institutions that are absolutely necessary in controlling a society. You cannot be dictator in any country if you cannot countrol these two main institutions. I did not even mention the press which is free to cuss at government 24 hours a day.
D2, you started well on this forum many moons ago. You were on the right side of things. Today, you have gotten on the wrong track belting out statements that are totally preposterous. You need to take a six month break from this forum. Go sell cassava bread in Richmond Hill or brew paiwari under some basement. It will help you get back your once clear vision. You owe this to yourself.
