Reply to "History info I never seen on GNI before"

Cobra, I read this thread shortly after you posted it but refrained from commenting because I didn't want to sound like a bright pupil again. 

Truth is, I knew about Longchamps since my teenage years when I read THE CHILDREN'S STORY OF GUYANA by Guy de Weever. And subsequently other Guyana history books which I have at home here. 

The French occupied the then separate colonies of Demerara and Essequibo briefly in the late 18th century. They left their mark on their plantations that are now villages: La Bagatelle in Leguan, La Grange in West Demerara, Lusignan in East Coast Demerara, etc.
