I am in favour of Guyanese canecutters securing similar jobs in Barbados as MIGRANT WORKERS. Canecutting is a skill. The work is seasonal, meaning that there is no pay some months every year. I see nothing wrong with him working in Barbados canefields to supplement his income in Guyana. As a rule in many countries, migrant workers are housed in barrack/communal conditions. That is the reality. Provided that a Guyanese canecutter has no plans to settle permanently in Barbados, he has no cause to worry about social stigma. A canecutter earns an honest day's pay for an honest day's work. That's the source of his dignity. This has nothing to do with PPP or PNC.

Canada has a big migrant worker program, lots of workers come from the small Islands such as St Lucia, Grenada, Antigua and even Jamaica. They can withstand the Summer heat to work in the fields doing farm work.
