The Sound of Silence refers to the peaceful time of mankind when the Yeshua returns and returns a world of peace.
Listen to the line on the Prophets.
You alone have that view of this song. It is a dystopian view of the fall of humanity brought on by voices of authoritarianism and insidious modernism eating away at the truth through distraction.
This is so complete that the wisdom of the ages is overwhelmed and submerged from view of the senses with only remnants of the truth remaining. And these we see as the graffiti on walls where free minds that remains express their lamentations of our loss.
The prophets are the icons of distractions, false leaders, fast life etc things that we embrace serves to hides reality from the senses, steal minds and rob us of the truth.
I hear the Psalms and Isaiah in those lyrics.
Truth, written in the common places like subway walls and tennement- acknowledged from a distant time past easily available for all to read.
Paul Simon, 21 years old must have been heavily into the Torah, he had to, being Jewish and at that age. He said he had inspiration reading so college material. I doubt that part of it, had I not listened to Leonard Cohen.
