Let us chat about Trump end of next year.  Already the market isnt sure what impact trade wars will have and at what point it will impact earnings.

Brazil did best under the moderate regimes that followed the military junta and the early phase of Lula. It fell apart when the commodity prices slumped.

When the poor slump back into poverty carrying with it an inability to consume we will see what happens. China's economy is slowing and with that a possible slump in commodity prices.  What favors Brazil is Trump's trade tantrum meaning that US agri exports will lose market share to Brazil.

And yes people like you love dictators, Jagdeo, Trump and now Bolsonaro.   You would have loved Burnham if he was Indian.

If Burnham was Indian, he would have been assassinated - Execution Style. Benevolent dictators are good for small countries with a good economic model like Singapore under Lee Kuan Yew.  Dictatorships do not survive under large democracies like Brazil, which is a country with a lot of resources, and has grown astronomically to become a member of the BRIC countries.  Brazil under Bolsonaro can do well economically.  But Brazil has a huge gap between the rich and the poor.  This gap can expect to be widened with a dwindling middle class, as in the case of India if extreme policies are enforced.
