Canada abolished slavery in 1838 because it was a British colony. Northern states abolished slavery in the 1820s. Slaves escaped from the slave states to the North, some continuing on to Canada. Why Canada gets the praise and not also these northern states is in your colonial brain.
Canada also had an immigrant policy that EXPLICITLY barred the entry of non whites. This was moved as late as 1962, just about when the USA was also undergoing its civil rights movement.
Now run along and learn the racial history of the Maritimes, where, prior to the arrival of Caribbean immigrants, most blacks in Canada lived. Want to see what Canadian attitudes to blacks was, look at Halifax!
Your Canadian master told you not to speak of the Maritimes because that will reveal that Canada was in fact no better than was the USA.

I bet you didn't even read my comments about the Maritimes. It is a DOCUMENTED fact that this region, which historically had the most visible population of blacks in Canada, until the 60s, was quite racist.
