yes in Brazil being black is so horrible that nobody wants to be black except if your skin looks like black polish. So yes 7% have skin like shoe polish but the others who are majority African escape because they dont.

I went to see teh infamous "mulatas" at one of the cabaret shows in rio. Those girls looked like Wendy Fitzwilliams and Janelle Commissiong, basically black even by West Indian standards with fine nose and small lips. Their small noses and lips allowed them teh esacpe from the "horror" of blackness.

This to you is progress. That Brazil makes it easy for peopole to escape the "curse" of being black or embrace the "goodness" of being white.

Having said all of that all those who find 200 ways of not wanting to be black end up almost as bad as those too dark to escape from the "sin" of being black.

Any fight you try to start comparing the socio-economic status of blacks and dark mulattos in Brazil with blacks in the USA will end up making you look stupid. Caribbean black immigrants make 85% of what white households in the USA make. Most Caribbean blacks will be called black in Brazil.

There is absolutely no way that, had Caribbean blacks migrated to Brazil instead of the USA, they would have enjoyed the moderate success that they have achieved in the USA. The USA has its racial issues. At least it is honest about it and has made strides in resolving this.

Brazil is still boasting that it makes it easy to escape the "curse" of being blacks so they most earn bonus points for that. The silly white/light skinned Brazilians who say this will call one a racist of one says they have no need to escape as they see nothing wrong with being black.

All you can talk about in Brazil is that some one like Sheila Holder will be white even though people who look like her usually only progress if they are in the arms of some rich white man. People looking like her are little different, despite being called one of teh 200 ways of not being black, than a man like Eric Phillips. They both are poor, almost absent from the elite classes and she will most likely be a maid in Brazil. YES A MAID!!!!

Where is your Oprah in Brazil? Do you know that she is the richest self made women in teh world....no she didnt get her wealth from her daddy. yes this is what the USA offers. The only country where blacks are a minority that this is possible.

As bad off as blacks in Guyana are they are miles ahead of their counterparts in Brazil.
