Popular miner Patrick Harding robbed at gunpoint; car hijacked

Patrick Harding, former President of the Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association, was on Monday evening attacked by two men – one bearing a gun – who flung him out of his vehicle and sped off with it.

Harding is a popular miner and currently serves as the Vice President of the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC).

Roger Harper, President of the DCC, told News Room Harding was returning from South Georgetown through Cemetery Road.

Once turning left on Princess Street, he pulled over to make a telephone call.

It was then that a car pulled up alongside him and ordered him to take the window down.

Once they had access to the car, they snatched Harding and flung him to the other side of the road after which they fled away with his Toyota Allion car; the car is Silver Grey and bears registration number PWW 5610.

Both of Harding’s hands are now in casts because of the injuries he suffered.

The matter was reported to the Police
