There is already a wall across most of the border. If people really want to enter they will do exactly that. Maybe if the USA looked at its immigration policies it wouldn't have this problem. Many undocumented migrants are married to US citizens. Prior to 1996 such people would have been sponsored, and would have been given permission to work as the application was processed.

It is known that this is how many Guyanese who came to NYC in the 80s on "indefinite vacations" eventually legalized themselves. Yes there were Guyanese "caravans" from Canada with people in the trunk until they got passed the US border.
