All that withstanding, people were still better off than they are right now. The country dead and buried prior to the PPP entering government in 1992. It continued to improve and everyone benefited. Since 2015, the economy have been in a tailspin as illustrated here.

Rice not doing got good enuff bai to prevent the 2.1% vs projection of 2.9% and previous year of 3.3%. If narco and money laundering wasn't a factor in the 3.3% growth in 2016, how can narco and money laundering be used as an excuse for the dismal 2.1% performance in 2017?
