One more COVID-19 death, 1016 new covid cases reported

An unvaccinated Region 10 man, 46, is the latest COVID-19 fatality and a record-breaking amount of new cases – 1016 were recorded yesterday.

The total number of deaths from the pandemic is now 1067.

The record number of cases yesterday continues a trend in recent days in what is believed to be the arrival of the Omicron variant here.

In the last five days, based on the ministry’s figures, an average of just over 818 new cases have been recorded. Four persons are in the ICU.
