A drunk Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo farmer last evening went berserk and burnt down the family’s house after he failed to hack his wife to death.

A relative said that the farmer, Bo Isbran, of Last Street, Phase One, Tuschen Housing Scheme, was in one of his usual drunken bouts.

After a heated exchange with his wife, the man reached for the cutlass, threatening to sever the woman’s neck from her body.

The couple’s son, who lives just next door, overheard his mother’s scream and rushed to her aid.

A relative said the son snatched the cutlass from his father and gave him a good thrashing.

Afterwards, the wife, Christine and other family members left the house and went to sit outside.

Bo Isbran then proceeded into the house and shortly thereafter, the family noticed smoke coming from inside the building. The man had set the house afire and came outside with his gun.

He later tried to go back into the house in a bid to burn himself alive, the relative said, but others prevented him. (This is how them PPP Drunk man Operating now)

The Police and Fire service were summoned and Isbran was arrested while sitting in the grass with his gun.

He boasted to Police that it was his house so he could destroy it.

“He didn’t really want dead because he could’a shoot heself, but is just bluffin he bluffin, and look wha damage he cause,” a resident stated.

His distraught wife was also taken to the Police station as the lawmen tried to figure the matter out.

It was unclear what started the argument with the couple.

But relatives and neighbours said heated exchanges were common at the house and anything could have started last evening’s incident.
