Mike’s Pharmacy presents cricket gears to MVPs

The recently concluded U13 25-over tournament which was sponsored by Well Teen, Nauth Motor Spares, Trophy Stall and Tropical Spring was second to none. The tournament was won by Blairmont Blazers of West Berbice. Following the conclusion of the tournament the organisers/sponsors hosted a 30-over fixture at DCC whereas the champions Blairmont Blazers took on Georgetown All stars.
Georgetown All stars triumphed by six wickets. Scores Blairmont Blazers 121-8. (Shaffie Shakir made 28, Zynol Ramsammy 18, Tomani Caesar and Vickendra Singh 14 each. Daniel Mootoo claimed 3-23 and Inderjeet Nanan 2-21).
Georgetown All stars 122-4 in 23.1 overs. (Tallius Lovell made 25 not out while Nanan got 22, Shamar Yearwood 12 and Mootoo 10).
It was the first time in an U13 tournament preliminary matches were played under lights and PA system was used to give the fans updates on the scores. The tournament saw a number of talents being unearthed such Tallius Lovell of GCC, Zynol Ramsammy of Blairmont, Romeo Deonarain of DCC and Daniel Mootoo among others.
The parents and players alike were encouraged to take the sport seriously as sponsors, apart from pouring money into the tournament in having matches played under lights and the use of PA system etc, also handed over cricket equipment to the outstanding players.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, Mike’s Pharmacy under their Wellkid brand handed over a quantity of cricket equipment to Ramsammy and Lovell for being named the MVP’s of their respective teams.
Arjune Badal of Mike’s Pharmacy, who made the presentation at DCC ground, encouraged the players to remain committed and to focus on their education while adding that they hope to host another tournament in 2018.
