I wonder why a PPP supporter mentions this.

1. Most of those involved in his thuggery are now with the PPP.

2.  The PPP refuses to remove the constitution that this man implemented.

Jagdeo now had an opportunity to use Granger's unilateral behavior to indicate exactly why the constitution is wrong. Instead he is arguing as if this constitution is sacrosanct.

Maybe if Jagdeo were to join up with civic society and right thinking Guyanese and insist that a fair constitution be discussed and implemented BEFORE that election then we wouldn't have rigging.

Almost 40 years later the constitution, set up by a rigger, still exists and NEITHER of the two major parties (or their allies) are interested in removing it as leaders of BOTH parties love the fact that it protects the right of the president to be held above the law.

We are not here to change history. History is there to remind us of what had happened, and what we must do to avoid the repeated consequences of dictatorship. The last time I checked, countless people have died for their freedom around the globe. If Guyanese are afraid to fight "fire with fire", there is no way they can bring the necessary changes to Guyana.

There should be no pitting of races in Guyana,it's about time for real Constitutional changes,i read an excellent article by Ralph Ramkarran regarding the suggested changes during PPP tenure, apparently they were not interested.

If any one wants a copy i can post.

So lets flip the coin around...if the PPP cannot do it...then the coalition should make the move since they have majority control of parliament. It is in their interest more so to prevent a person like Jagdeo from coming to power and using the same Constitution as is to run Guyana....if this is a fear of the coalition and its established that the PPP like the current document, what is preventing the coalition from taking action?

After all...they did make this as a pledge before election...

Another good piece of historical evidence here. Look like Jagan created his own downfall by antagonizing the British and Americans....that opened the way for Burnham.

Exactly, this was part of their election platform. Liars Moses and Ramjattan were the biggest proponents of constitutional reform until Granger created the Ministry of Presidency and clipped their wings.

They now have to mop the floor for the PNC and compete as to who can bark the loudest for Granger.

Only the truly naÃŊve will believe that the PPP wants to change the constitution.   As soon as the power began to sweet them Burnham's constitution became "the best in the Caribbean".

Even now that Granger's unilateral actions where he personally gets to chose who runs the election AS THE CONSTITUTION ALLOWS, doesn't lead them to think that a change is necessary.

This is just Granger vs. Jagdeo and only the stupid join sides in this.  Yes Gilly and his new found Indo KKK friends who now rally to his side.  He will soon argue that the PPP is the best party for Afro Guyanese, and that it has never attempted to exclude them.

And you don't call Cheddi, and Janet Jagan liars when changing the constitution was also part of their 1992 campaign promise.

Let us examine the time when the PPP and the UF were on the same side.  They had FAR MORE seats than does APNU/AFC now, and yet you revel on the fact that they kept the BURNHAM constitution!

You need to stop siding with your idol Carib. You, Carib, Mars, and D2 blame coolies and the PPP for every crooked thing the PNC does. When are you going to stand on your own backbone?

Carib and D2 and Django have said many things about the PNC that they don't like. Even Mars occasionally criticizes them.

When do you criticize PPP racism?  NEVER!  According to you blacks are criminals, lazy, violent and useless. Just as your PPP said in that infamous Chronicle editorial for which they have never apologized.
