The US Embassy has warned its citizens here that it has received multiple reports of late night robberies occurring in the Massy’s grocery store parking lot located in Providence, Georgetown, behind the National Stadium.

The advisory from the embassy here says that the Guyana Police Force (GPF) and Massy’s management confirmed increased criminal activity since July, mostly occurring after 8 pm.

“The Embassy encourages U.S. citizens to remain vigilant when traveling late at night and avoid dark, secluded areas as criminal activity is more prevalent in these situations.  Additionally, while the GPF has increased nightly patrols of the area, they recommend shoppers avoid displaying valuables when walking around the store or parking lot”, the advisory said.

It added, “The Embassy security office suggests if you become the victim of a crime, immediately comply with the assailant’s request; do not resist; and, as soon as possible, find a place of safety and contact the police by dialing 911.”

These crooks who run G/town cares nothing about making the city safe for people or business.  Their supporters would not vote them out even though half of them live in filth. It's tribal thing when it comes to political loyalty. City Hall will never change and crime will always be a major hindrance to economic growth.

City Hall is speaking boldly through the mayor and Royston King, just as we have heard from the REO of Essequibo, who said to tell anyone that he is in charge. Our democracy is slowl eating away when you hear sound bites of who is in charge or running things. The concern of being public servant to the people's needs has diminished.
