Upper Corentyne Cricket Association/Roy Baijnauth 20/20 Round 2 victories for #72 Cut & Load and #43 Scorpions

Cricketing action in Round 2 of the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association/Roy Baijnauth T20 competition continued over the last weekend as the remaining 12 teams battled to secure spots in the quarterfinal round of the competition.
At the #73 Young Warriors ground, #43 Scorpions defeated #77 Cricket Club by 50 runs in their match which was witnessed by an enthusiastic bunch of spectators. Batting first the Scorpions scored 118 all out with batsmen T. Persaud 24, Ronald Pottaya 15 and Farook Drepaul 12 being the main run scorers. Bowling for #77 Gajendra Ramnarine, Kenny Rogers and Nazarudeen Persaud had figures of 3-15, 3-22 and 2-24 respectively.
In their reply, #77 CC were bowled out for 68 runs in just 14 overs. Nazarudeen Persaud and Trishan Ramdass were the only 2 batsmen to show any resistance to the Scorpion bowlers and scored 13 and 12 runs respectively. Farook Drepaul was the pick of the #43 Scorpion bowlers as he took 4-18. The Scorpions received disciplined bowling from T. Persaud 3-17, Marcel Harvel 2-12 and Bhojpauldeen 1-11.
In the second match, #72 Cut & Load got the better of #70 MYO at their Club’s ground in #72 Village. Winning the toss and batting first, #70 MYO scored 101 all out in 17.2 overs. Fazir Ali top scored with 49, while Jameel Assad 18 and Alim Haniff 11 provided valuable and much needed support to the total. Bowling for Cut & Load, Rishi Persaud 4-17, Davenand Chatterpaul 2-17, Ramesh Omapersaud 2-20 and Clavern Beresford 1-20 were the wicket taking bowlers.
Batting second, #72 Cut & Load raced to the target as they cemented their spot in the next round by reaching 104 for 6 in 12.4 overs. Batsman Rishi Persaud struck a belligerent 51, while Ramesh Joseph scored 15. Neazi Khan 3-11, Amad Khan 1-25 and Azarudeen Mohammed 1-20 were the main wicket takers for the #70 MYO team. #72 Cut & Load won by 4 wickets.
The competition continues.
