UCDC & Carlton Stephenson Emancipation Day Events… Marathon-run to headline day’s activities

Veteran Marathon runner Carlton Stephenson has collaborated with the Uitvlugt Community Development Committee to stage a grand day of activities for August 1 (Emancipation Day) and the eagerly anticipated Marathon run from Sophia in the City to the Uitvlugt Library Square is set to highlight the day’s activities.
The feature event is scheduled to commence at 04:40hrs and will be followed by a fun day from 10:00hrs with a variety of races including a Flat race, Late for school, Tennis Roll Race, Slow Cycle Race, Needle and Thread, Tug-o-war, Dog and the Bone, Football and Dominoes. There will be prizes for the Oldest and Youngest competitors.
Meanwhile, a Cultural programme of Arts and Craft Exhibition where villagers will showcase their talent will be held on July 31 from 17:00hrs.
African dishes will be on sale and the six oldest Villagers (3 males and 3 females) will be presented with gifts as will the top three students from Uitvlugt who excelled in the Grade six Assessment and CXC Exams in 2017.
