Two long-serving female members of the Peoples National Congress Reform (PNCR), citing major grievances, are taking a back-seat from the party in the wake of the 2011 general and regional elections.

Well-placed sources say Dr. Faith Harding has resigned from the Central Executive of the party and Judith David-Blair from Bartica has retired altogether from politics.

Insiders say Blair is preparing to submit her resignation in which she would request that her name be removed from the Top-Up and Regional Lists after consultations with her husband. She is also expected to say that she would be unavailable for future campaigning, candidature and other political work.
Claiming that PNCR Leader Robert Corbin had a major role to play in selecting candidates, the source said she is upset that she was not made a Geographical Candidate but only a Top-Up candidate.

quote...It is clear just by a cursory look at this list that several of those selected are mere political hacks and hangers-on with connections to the King Maker.. .unquote

quote...The recent exclusion of Mr. Aubrey Norton, Nicole Telford and others from the APNU list of representatives is a glaring example of all that is wrong with the system. It is a well known fact that Norton has not had a stellar relationship with PNC leadership and sources close to the selection process have told OVNN that it was this fact that resulted in his disrespectful and unceremonious omission from the list of representatives. Nicole Telford would have easily been a more effective pick to represent NFA than the ailing Keith Scott who is still recovering from a recent stroke. Mr. Scott is simply unable to perform at the very high level required of this parliament and the fact that he was chosen further reinforces that merit was not a major criteria in the male dominated, closed door, selection process.

It was also brought to our attention that one female candidate held a significant advantage because of her close relationship with a very influential party big-shot. If these allegations are true then what example does this set for Guyanese women, for our daughters? The APNU must take a long hard look in the mirror and cleanse itself from elements that bring such shame and dishonor to the partnership ".unquote

Benschop was part of the PPP. When he first returned home he was a big time PPP stalwart. He even sent me pictures he took out with Janet Jagan during her inauguration. They were posing and smiling as if in love. Smile

His love for the PPP was lost a little later and especially when Jagdeo imprisoned him then exonerated him stating ... "I hope he has learned his lesson".

Jagdeo needs a good guyanese stick lash for that statement.

Opposition Leader David Granger was once again exposed as a liar, this time by his former PNC colleague, Dr Faith Harding. Harding had earlier this week announced her resignation from the Central Executive Committee of the Peoples National Congress Reform (PNCR) alleging that she was being sidelined among a host of other reasons. When asked for a response Granger denied that she was sidelined and treated unfairly by the leadership of that party after she contested the primaries for the presidential candidate post. Kicking into full propaganda mode Granger said “there has been inclusivity”.
However Granger’s deceitful ways was further exposed when Dr Harding responded by saying that “he was not even an elected member of the central executive committee of the PNCR and so could not speak on behalf of the party”.

Well Faith already stated that the PNC and PPP are the same.

Is this her way of cozying up to the PPP. She already stated the PPP offered her wuk since her resignation but she turned it down. That must have been a slap in the face to the PPP.

Nah bai, lil moo milk an' sugga, shi cyan become "Faith"-full.

It's all well and good to bring blackss into the PPP as long as they aren't being bribed.

I would honestly say I was pro PPP 20 years ago ... but right now after the Jagdeo leadership joining the PPP is like asking me do I want a case of ringworm.

After 25 years, Dr Faith Harding has resigned from the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) central executive, saying that the party has sidelined her.
She accused that party of running an unfair primary process to determine the presidential candidate, which worked for David Granger but worked against the other contestants. She disclosed that she decided to contest after she was written to in Sudan, where she worked, by young people and others who were looking “for an alternative.”

But even before she joined the race, Harding said, she had objected to the manner in which the campaign was being run and while overseas had even written to Lance Carberry to object. She pointed out that Granger was moving with PNCR leader Robert Corbin and was even using the party’s vehicles and the public relations staff members. She said she also wrote to Corbin and General Secretary Oscar Clarke but got no response to her letters.

Dr Harding pointed out that two days before the election of the presidential candidate, a book launching was held for Granger at the party’s head office with Corbin, Volda Lawrence and Amna Ally and others in attendance.

“It was a real pappy showâ€Ķbut that’s how it was.”
