Donald Trotman escapes unhurt as his car catches fire

FORMER judge Donald Trotman escaped serious injury last evening when the vehicle he was driving burst into flames on the East Coast Demerara. The Guyana Chronicle was at the scene and heard Mr Trotman, father of Speaker Raphael Trotman, relate to firemen who were summoned that the vehicle was over heating as he drove. He

stopped, added coolant to the radiator and continued on his way.
But in the vicinity of the Mon Repos Market, the vehicle caught fire and he swerved into the parking area. He explained that as he exited the vehicle, several citizens prised open the car’s bonnet and threw sand from the parking area to douse the blaze. His son, who is also an executive member of the Alliance for Change (AFC), soon arrived on the scene and thanked the citizens who assisted his Dad.
The retired judge was visibly shaken and thanked those who helped to put out the blaze for their quick thinking.

Thanks for posting this, yuji. I met Mr Donald Trotman before he became a judge. A courteous gentleman, as I recall. His interests went beyond the legal profession into the literary field. He wrote and published poems while I wrote and published short stories and we met in that milieu.

It's a fortunate thing he escaped that fire.

Donald Trotman seems to be a very respectable man. Politics aside, we must always show that we care about all Guyanese.

What a dirty trick by the PPP. Imagine targeting an old man like this, and having the Chronicle waiting in the intended murder spot to capture gloating pictures of the attempted assassination. You can't tell me that these wasn't pre-arranged. How else would the Chronicle have known where and what time to be there for the opportunity to get some election pictures?

And all because he is the father of someone who is an eye sore to the PPP regime.

The story does not say what racial make up the people were who, in the face of clear and present danger, rushed to rescue Mr Trotman. These folks should be honoured for their braveness.
