Shah Rukh Khan launched a global and democratic award by The Times of India Group – the Times of India Film Awards (TOIFA) on Tuesday where he also addressed the media on the ‘Being a Khan’ article controversy. The awards  honors and recognizes excellence in Hindi Cinema.

“I feel very fortunate to be here. The TOIFA is a fantastic platform. It gives me immense pleasure to be a part of it. There are so many award functions today but TOIFA stands for goodness, honesty and class. These will help us respect and understand awards”said 
SRK further added that he would be performing at the TOIFA Awards 2013 “I would be performing at the function. It is just a couple of months away. I have just landed and was under the weather with a cold. But as soon as I recover I will be meeting Shiamak (Davar) and planning for the awards.”
The TOIFA Awards will be held  from April 4th to 6th in Vancouver, Canada. Bollywood stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma will be hosting the Times of India Film Awards

The nominations will be selected by the jury and then the public will  vote and pick the winners.

“I have always been amazed by the love and fan following for Hindi Films in Canada and I am looking forward to the awards weekend being held in Vancouver,” said Shah Rukh Khan .
“TOIFA will truly be a Game changer. The Times of India group and the Indian film industry has had a relationship of over a century, over a 100 years, which is way many more years than I have been born. The TOIFA Times Of India Awards will take place in Vancouver. We are going to write history in golden letters. I am extremely excited to be a part of this history in making. I hope all of you are there at Vancouver on the 6th of April 2013″ said Shah Rukh Khan  in a promotional video.

The schedule of Times of India Film Awards 2013 celebration :
4th April 2013 : Leading musicians from the Hindi Film Industry will entertain audiences with a concert at the Pacific Colliseum.

5th April 2013 : Film screenings of popular Hindi films across multiplexes in British Columbia for the public. This will be followed by the TOIFA Nomination Gala & the Technical Awards.

6th April  2013 :  A grand awards ceremony at BC Place  . There will be a power packed performances by Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan, Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra and many more leading celebrities and the film fraternity.

Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia will be seen hosting the musical night at the Times Of India Film Awards held in Vancouver and is very excited about it.

“It’s Times of India, I am not expecting anything less than the best. I have been on international award shows, all of them have been spectacular experiences. Times is taking this global, so they will not leave any stone unturned,” Neha told IANS.

The actress has been to Vancouver a while back and is excited to go back.

“I have to admit that I went a while ago. Just being able to see parts of Canada and British Columbia was amazing. I am going back to Vancouver now, I am excited,” she said.

“Trips to Canada have been wonderful. Its nice to see somewhere which is scarcely populated,” she added.

Talking about the people of Vancouver, Neha said that they were huge fans of Bollywood.

“They love Bollywood there. I am looking forward to the TOIFA Awards weekend in Vancouver,” she said. – IANS
