The people must act to bring about regime change

August 29, 2014 | By | Filed Under Letters

DEAR EDITOR,
For those who attended primary school in the 1950s and 1960s had to have a genuine pride as their teachers spoke glowingly of a beautiful Guyana. They described Guyana as a land of paradise with its beautiful scenery and landscape. They made Guyanese feel blessed that they were born and/or resided in this paradise.
For those who were captured by the spell cast with words paying tribute to our glorious country must have, some time along life’s journey had a dose of reality that Guyana is now a paradise lost. Thanks to the Jagdeo/ Ramotar cabal.
What natural wonders exist today in Guyana-Georgetown once dubbed the Garden City has now become the garbage city and the historic buildings such as the City Hall are falling apart. The beautiful drainage system built by the colonials has collapsed. Today, it takes only a drizzle to flood the streets of Georgetown and surrounding areas. Streams, rivers, canals and lakes might more aptly be described in terms of polluted water ways.
And the overnight rags to riches in the cabal are so corrupt, greedy and selfish that they are not interested in maintaining the infrastructure bequeathed to them by Britain.
In other words, this rag-tag group at Freedom House has put their own financial interests first and not the people and the country.
Sadly, the PPP during the Jagdeo/Ramotar regime have looked the other way while the country is rotting, pretending that the gravity of the decay is overstated by the printed media and the opposition. Those who saw the writing on the wall prefer to be like the cynic character Benjamin in George Orwell’s book Animal Farm-content to make predictions without raising a hand, or in Benjamin’s case, use a hoof to steer the country in the right direction.
If the PPP, especially the Minister of Local Government, Mr. Whittaker continues to squander the opportunities given to them to set things right, Georgetown will remain the garbage city and Guyana will become a living hell, if it is not so as yet. Under the unrighteous and uncaring PPP cabal, Guyana has slid down a slope of societal and economic hopelessness – a hopelessness in which the country has lost those who were honest and hard working. These patriotic giants have spent their lives performing at the top of their game so that others who follow would have benchmarks to continue their works in progress.
But the focus of the PPP is not to make Guyana a better place in which to live. The post-Jagan PPPites are bent on making millions the illegal way and in the shortest possible time without having to work hard. These greedy, selfish, and corrupt Jagdeoites continued to use the state resources to enrich themselves, their relatives and friends at the expense of the poor and the working class.
Their barefaced corrupt practices have resulted in Transparency International ranking Guyana as the second most corrupt country in the Caribbean after Haiti.
In 2014, Guyana’s corruption rating worsened, slipping lower than the previous years to 137th out of 177 countries with its lowest score of only 27 points out of 100. This means that corruption has increased under the Ramotar’s administration. The people can no longer depend on the DO-NOTHING President to end corruption and save Guyana from the the kleptocrats. The country is not in a good place right now under these unrighteous Freedom House gangsters. We call on all law abiding citizens to use any and every legal means necessary to get rid of this crooked regime.
Change will not come overnight and it will not at all happen without a concerted effort by the people. Unless the people act on their own, change will not come to Guyana.

Nheru,

Dem AFC boys are in trouble. People are not listening to them or attending their meeting. Frustration is starting to show as AFC posters are becoming restless.

PNC's Hamilton Greene turned GT a city of Filth. The filth on GT is on the PNC.

Did you not hear ? AFC might be forced to merge with the PNC just like WPA.

Unfortunately, with the PNC in government from 1964 to 1992, it has miserably diminished during that period. Since 1992, the PPP/C has worked to regain and surpass the status of the 1964 to 1992 era.

The aggressive propaganda campaign by the combined opposition does not tell the real story of their standing with the population. It gives the impression that there is growing opposition to the gov't. and its economic program while the opposition's popularity is increasing. One just have to take a trip to Guyana to see how opposite things are from what the Joint-opposition is telling us through the online newspapers and television broadcasts. Scams involving businessmen and polticians from the opposition are censured in the Opposition media house. Gov't support for education, health, housing, etc. are not reported in the press.

The PPP has to go.

I will be going home to vote and stuff the ballot boxes and encourage others to vote early and vote often for the PPP. Guarantee a PPP win.
