APNU supporters decry lack of jobs – Says overseas-based, ex GDF being given preference

A report by internet news site Demerara Waves says there is disquiet among a section of the A Partnership for National Unity(APNU) which forms part of the coalition government. According to the report, the group which comprises “young educated youths” who had campaigned extensively at the May 11th elections for the APNU+AFC coalition are miffed at being bypassed for jobs.
Many of these jobs they say are being given to overseas-based ex members of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF).
Some are disgruntled at being placed in areas in which their qualifications are not being properly utilized.
The People’s Progressive Party on numerous occasions pointed to the militarization of the government. The party expressed its concerns about the appointment of many former army ranks to fill senior positions within the government.
