Gentlemen I don't know if this is true.  I was speaking to a man from the Indian Navy last year and he told me that it was British soldiers serving in India a few centuries ago that invented curry.  He told me that curry is a blending of spices but that never use to happen in India until the British soldiers started doing it.

I never could figure out why ppl in the UK always wanna take me about for a "beer and a curry"

Like that's somehow suppose to impress me

It's not to impress you. It's a tradition. Just like how we would invite someone to go to a rumshop. You can then talk nonsense and catch up with what has been happening in life.

By "impress" I meant show me how Indo-friendly they are. Whenever I'm in your realm I try to scarf down as much pub food and black pudding as I can. Nothing like black pudding for breakfast.

Also, I'm not a big fan of India type curry. However, I love their tikka masala

We had to adapt our foods to the ingredients available to us in the New World which were very limited.

Also our music grew out of the Hindu temple music tradition. Chutney's origins lie in the tradition of temple music. We didn't bring Bollywood stars with us on the boat

I don't know about you Freaky but I like my curry duck, dholl puri and cold coconut water with some hot pepper thrown in. That is how our ancestors liked it in Uttar Pradesh.  I never liked this other stuff like Tikka Masala, tandoori chicken, naan bread ect. That is not to say that I have something against other regions of India.  Its just my preferences.
