VOTE DAVE MATRIX FOR THE PEANUT BUTTER GOON GANG.

Give an AFC goon some attention he will talk crap all day, teach that goon how to handle cardboard computer and he will go on GNI and continue talking the same crap, but this time in gigabytes and all day and all night.

Your post shows how much you lack vision. The one lap top policy of Jagdeo will maintain Guyana as a dankey cart economy. After 3 years most of the cheap lap tops would have been destroyed and depreciated and no jobs created. No BPO system. Gerhard is making a point that these computers can be assembled in Guyana thus laying the base for an industry and creating jobs. I fully agree with Gerhard because I have studied how others like South Korea and Taiwan started from the very bottom to make manufacturing power base. The jagdeo policy is nothing more than an election year gimmick. There will be no long-term job created. There is a difference between job creation and election gimmicks.

These guys have no strategic vision. For them the cake shop economic model is just fine, buy and sell economy.

Even TK will agree with me, plywood computer is a Technological Regression on a fast lane. Let’s talk about microprocessors hitting 10GHz by the year 2011
FM
you are such an idiot you have missed the point, making computer cases using local wood would be ingenius and create jobs and it is green.

Computer cases do not have to be made of plywood they can be made of many other woods guyana has which is beautiful and esthetically much more pleasing to the eyes than plastic.

The components whether its the latest multicore Chip from Intel or the latest from AMD is irrelevant.

doofis.

Yea, and the micro processor is made of plywood, right.

The Judge, you know, if I were you I would be bit more cautious in exposing my limitations...

Those are SATA cables, and could therefore not be hooked up to 40GB hard drives - the drives are 500GB actually. The wood is Bitter Cedar, a valued furniture wood. What I have my hands on there represents jobs.

That you ridicule it shows the regard the PPP has for our people. That computer was not built by me - I commissioned it, and it came out from all places, Lethem. You people in your ivory towers don't even know the talent of the ordinary Guyanese. That is why you and your snot-nosed, thieving ilk will be voted out.

Fitting the hardware from a small PC inside a wooden enclosure is actually a very ingenious idea. Many laughed when the Wright brothers say they wanted to build a wooden structure that could fly. They aren't laughing now.

I started my business with a few products that had my competitors laughing. Now even some well known Japanese companies have started releasing products that are based on my original idea.
Mr.T
Rather than salute innovation and adaptation using local components, these OP dudes are looking for cheap publicity. Every effort should be made to stimulate local endeavours using alternatives where possible and feasible. It makes just good sense to do so. Mind you, I'm sure if the criticism from the OP boys were constructive they would be taken seriously!

On that score, it's just an observation I'm making here, and Gerhard could proffer an answer:
Since some computer components in use generate heat, what safeguards are employed to make a local assembly of such an item using wooden housing safe from becoming a possible fire hazard?

I ask this question not as a means to denigrate, for I wholeheartedly support the entrpreneural concept underlying the local assembly of this product!!!

Now the flower shop man become computer expert. If the world's best mind did not use wood for the casing of computer what makes any of you think that the AFC goons have discovered that they world is round? This is the problem with the AFC boys, square pegs in round holes, they take a man from a flower shop and present him as an engineer. hahahahahhahah

This is a good example to illustrate how cheap it is to assemble a computer. It demystify the process. I have assembled every kind of computer, re manufactured cases of standard laptop to harden and tempest them and know there is no mystery to the process and there hundreds of people willing to customize a machine for you if the volume is right. The idea of buying 90 thousand laptop off the shelf for 400 a piece is robbery. We could build a tough notebook with fairly good processing power, storage capacity and compliment of software to teach our kids and bring them on line in easily with the necessary support in place.

My problem with the casual way they are going about this process shows their total lack of concern for detail. This is process simply to spend some money. It is like everything the PPP do. There is a complete lack of attention to details. It is the habit of very lazy people. Throwing money at a problem is not the way to solve a problem. Payuing attention to the process so you get good results is. This whole issue is a waste of time since our people will not be better off by it. The system should be integrated into the schools and the teachers should be integral to the delivery and development of strategies for use and support. That could come only if the machines were customized and standardized for us.

Jackasses like you may know what is a hard drive but you know little about how easy it is to build and deliver these products if you have volume and intend to continue the delivery mechanisms as part of our education strategy. Your redicule of GR demonstrate how completely out of touch and shallow you people are. We have been talking about this for over a year and yet the PPP has no delivery and support mechanism in place. Going house to house checking on who to get this product is really a waste of time. Each high school student should get one. They will teach their siblings in primary shools.

You PPP crooks are well behind in your knowledge. See http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/...puter-case-made-wood
http://www.silentpcreview.com/article237-page1.html

The AFC shows how far ahead they are of the PPP old guard.
Mr.T
Mr.T , many thaks for your insightful article, from which I display a few photos here, and also to D2, for your contribution. I think my concern about heat dissipation using a wooden housing has been answered.

The first few pieces tacked together

Basics assembled

The drive cage is screwed into the top of the case, with some foam strips between the cage and the top.

The motherboard tray is screwed directly to the case, and the motherboard is mounted.
