This is why you don't believe everything any politician say.  The economics of Sugar will determine the outcome of the industry, not any politician.  The world of sugar has changed and will never be the same.  The PPP remained committed for too long rather than seeking alternatives.  They also were making promises of sand castles.

Cost effectiveness alone could not save sugar, the market has changed for good.  KishanB's plan for 100,000 tons of sugar tucked in sachet for never viable or realistic.  Even Nagamootoo had a belly roll on that!!

Convert the sugar fields to soy and other farms.  Seek out demand-growing products, not demand-declining!

I have said this a while ago. Soybeans have a wide market in the world.
