Can you believe the chutzpah of Khemraj Ramjattan? The man is leader of a political party threatening to have the Specialty Hospital project examined by Parliament – and it’s now revealed he’s the lawyer representing the company that lost the bid? How many millions are his fee? While he’s being paid by taxpayers?

SO, Mr. Khemraj Ramjattan, leader of the Alliance For Change(AFC) party, and attorney-at-law, is of the view that the government of Guyana ought to “Rescind Surendra bid”, according to the Stabroek News of 27.8.12. What is of essence with such a position is the question as to whether he speaks as a legal  attorney representing a client, or as a Guyanese who has genuine interest in the development process of his country.
Surely, he speaks from a position of pure self-interest, and not from the high platform of a patriot. Such has always been this party leader’s position on such peculiar matters.
As an example, the proposed Marriot Hotel that has caused a controversy, particularly from a particular hotelier, who is a well known member of Ramjattan’s outfit.
This high-profile businessman and hotelier objected to the proposed building of another hotel, for the clear fact that such an enterprise would  definitely raise the bar, as far as such services are concerned, and which would perhaps close the doors of his hotel . And there was Ramjattan, in shining armour, defending this hotelier, despite the clear and rational reasons for the need for such a high-quality hotel as the Marriot in Guyana.
With regard to his client Fedders-Lloyd’s  failed bid, one is guided by the explanation given  by the Ministry of Health’s Permanent Secretary, Leslie Cadogan, who is also Chairman of the Evaluation of Bids Committee for the building of the Specialty Hospital. Speaking at a press conference, this official explained that  bidders were assessed for competency  in the categories of administrative and technical expertise. He further explained that any bidder under evaluation found to be non-responsive in any area in either of these two categories, would be deemed non-responsive in every other area.  Such was the outcome with  Fedders- LLoyd’s bid, hence their losing the bid for the hospital.

Why don't ramorat tell us how Omai was able to sell Linmine  to BOSAI when he was sitting on their board? Why  has  NICIL not given us an accounting or promise a finite time when it would be available since t hey never submitted one in 10 years? And why is the disgraced NCN execs not before the courts? How come Geeta singh knight still sits on the GUYSUCO board when she illegally invested and lost 35 million of the nations assets?
