Prison escape is a game these days

http://www.kaieteurnewsonline....s-a-game-these-days/

Early yesterday morning people wake up to de news that more people get away from jail. This time was 13. De number tun out to be unlucky because before de day done, six of dem done get ketch.

De thing that got people vex is how some of dem get ketch. Dem boys seh it had to be that de people who getaway did want to test de police.

When dem deh home dem don’t dig nutten. Dem don’t worry bout nutten, but as soon as dem end up in jail dem looking fuh spade and shovel.

Khemraj Rum Jattan call a press conference and he tell dem reporters that is not only El Chapo (Joaquin Guzman). He was a man who get away from jail by having people dig a tunnel fuh him. This set dig dem own tunnel.

Rum Jattan did put soldiers and police all round de place. De prisoners just crawl out and none of dem didn’t even see. Dem boys seh dem should smell, because jail man got he own smell that don’t go away easy. It had to be that de people who was guarding de prison had cold.

De eye pass come when two of dem tun up at de bus stop fuh ketch a bus to go up de East Coast. Nobody don’t know whether dem had money to pay de bus or if dem woulda stop de bus and run way. De good thing is that dem didn’t get to go nowhere because de police know dem to a T.

De whole thing now look like a game, because prisoners mekking jail break look like stupidness. Long time when dem had a jail break de prisons had a siren that dem use to sound off whenever a prisoner escape. In 2002 when dem had de jailbreak de siren didn’t wuk.

De other day when some more prisoner getaway de siren didn’t sound and yesterday when dem find out that more prisoners get away, again de siren didn’t sound. It probably mean that de whole thing is a joke.

Talk half and watch more prisoners get away.

Why are you giving the Director of Prisons and the prison officers on watch a free pass?

Mitwah

Riff, the problem with a PNC and Namakaram Crabdaag is the depth of INCOMPETENCE, uselessness and plain stupidity. You cannot expect them to do/know anything that is right, fitting and progressive. Many of their GNI FILTH HEAD supporters are even WORST than them, just look at their comments and evaluate their competence. Some use dope as the reason for their ignorance, some did not go far in school and all were born with FILTH in their heads!!!

By not allowing them to have digging tools???   Did they dig the tunnel with their fingers???  Where were the guards when the tunnel was being dug??  How does one dig a tunnel in a swampy area??

Bibi Haniffa

Sure, Ramjattan is responsible for the overall security of prisons and Guyana, but incompetent employees have been known to cause serious consequences, also in other business.

It is also the responsible for the security minister to provide adequate training and to examine overall security,  but the race situation in Guyana might  prevent this from happening.

Because which black man in Guyana would want an Indian to be their boss ? Is Granger not responsible for this posting ?

How was gallons of gasoline and other weapons  allowed in GT prison to cause such a large fire ?

Maybe  having Ramjatttan or anyone else as security minister, might not have prevented what happened. In facilities  too old and inadequate to hold more then normal  number of prisoners.

Miss Bibi, you need to spend some time working in a Guyana prisoner, to understand what prisoners are capable of doing without correct tools.

Are you speaking from facts, or just what pop in your head ? Because it sure don't make you look very intelligent.

Ultimately the fault lies with Ramjattan. From the time he was given the responsibility he should have done a comprehensive walk through or study to see what he was responsible for and what needed improvement. Guyana's prisons are old and need to be upgraded or rebuilt. I am sure Camp Street did not have a working sprinkler system if any at all. That "I find it suh" mentality needs to change. Start earning what the taxpayers are paying you.

Salient questions which they will avoid to provide an answer.

Look at the area where they were held. It doesn't look like it is well lit. Obviously the guards either weren't doing their job or were paid to look the other way. There was no tunnel in the true sense of an underground tunnel. They "tunneled" under the chainlink fence.

Most likely.

Given the issues why they were transported to the said area, the guards should be extremely vigilant and observant of the prisoners and all areas within the prison.

Correct what you wrote and  governments have a dirty habit of not channelling funds to places,  that could cost more in the long run.

Guyana prison is a good example. Instead of renovating, they might now have to build a new prison.  I hope they move it out of GT.

Similar to preventive medicine in Guyana,  where a person might go to a doctor only when a symptom occurs. They sometimes try to put out the fire, after everything is burnt down.

In our town a new prison was built, before the old one was due to retire.  Afterwards, the movie Double Jeopardy[and other movies]  were filmed in the old prison.

I had to place a phone line in the prison here. All my tools were documented, even though I was accompanied by a prison officer  and a quarter inch diameter hole to be drilled,  had to be approved in Ottawa.

Guyana don't seem to have preventative medicine for anything.
