Former Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee says that the Special Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) will have to arrest him at his premises as while he is prepared to co-operate with any investigation he will not be visiting its Camp Road HQ.

An abridged statement from Rohee follows:

Representatives of the media

I want to make it clear from the very outset that there was no attempt by me nor,as far as I am aware, by any of my colleagues to ‘dodge’ SOCU at anytime. It is a big lie!

Myself and Mr S. James, Head of SOCU spoke last Friday. He informed me about the investigations being conducted by SOCU into the Pradoville housing project and that he is inviting me to come to SOCU’s HQ  for questioning.

I told him I didn’t have any problem with being questioned by SOCU but since SOCU is a police outfit operating under the Police Act the questioning can take place at my home or any other agreed location. Mr James’ response was that he was unaware of that. He advised me that I had three optional dates and times Tues, Wed, or Thursday 6,7 or 8 of March respectively to be present at his office. My response was the earlier the better. He then advised that Tues 7, at 2pm will be the date and time scheduled for me to visit SOCU’s HQ. The conversation ended there.

Clement Rohee

On wed March, 8 I was present at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition , at about 1.30pm I called Head of SOCU to enquire about the status of his invitation for my interview with SOCU. I was told that I am scheduled to present myself at SOCU’s HQ. I repeated my understanding of the Police Act and the SOP for SOCU in respect to questioning of persons. James reiterated his position. He insisted that I must come to SOCU’s HQ failing which he will have no alternative but to send ranks to arrest me. I left it at that.

I wish to reiterate my position that I will cooperate with SOCU as far and as best and I  can insofar as their questioning me is concerned. I have decided to stay at my place of residence to await the arrival of SOCU ranks to arrest me .

This should not be construed as an attempt resist arrest nor to ‘dodge’ SOCU since from the very beginning I made my understanding of the Police Act on such matters clear to the Head of SOCU.

As a former Minister of Home Affairs who served this country for almost ten(10) years I am very clear on this matter.

Clearly, SOCU is operating under political pressure from executive authority.

This is a centrally directed dirty war disguised as a fight against corruption  against political opponents of the APNU+AFC coalition administration.

Pradoville 2 is the cause for the dirty war.

The PPP and its leaders are the principal targets in this dirty war.

Goatman said that he's a former Min of Home Affairs and he served the country for 10 years. Can someone enlighten me as to how did he serve the country?

What were his accomplishments during those 10 years?

He served in the capacity of home affairs minister when your pnc freedom fighters were killing off innocent people. You forgot? Too much of that white stuff does really screw up one's mind.  Read below please and educate yourself.

Clement James Rohee (born March 16, 1950) is a Guyanese politician who has been General Secretary of the People's Progressive Party (PPP) since 2013. Under the PPP government, he served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1992 to 2001, Minister of Foreign Trade from 2001 to 2006, and Minister of Home Affairs from 2006 to 2015.

Life and career

In his youth, Rohee joined the PPP's Progressive Youth Organization. Following the PPP victory in the 1992 election, he served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1992 to 2001.[1]He was Chairman of the Group of 77 in 1999. At a ceremony marking Guyana's assumption of chairmanship in January 1999, Rohee said that the international monetary system was at "risk for devastating failure" and was "severely flawed", pointing to the Asian financial crisis and calling for reform of the system.[2]

From 2001 to 2006, he was Minister of Foreign Trade and International Co-operation. During this time, he was also the Ministerial Spokesperson of CARICOM regarding negotiations at the World Trade Organization from 2002 to 2006, as well as the Lead Ministerial Spokesperson of CARICOM regarding sugar from 2004 to 2006.[1] In September 2006, he became Minister of Home Affairs in a cabinet reshuffle after the PPP won a fourth term in the 2006 election.

Rohee is a member of the Central Committee and the Executive Committee of the PPP. He has also served as a member of the PPP's Education Committee, as Secretary of the Central Committee responsible for International Affairs, and as Executive Secretary and Convenor of the PPP's Race Relations Committee. He has also served on the editorial board of the PPP journal Thunder.[1] At the party's 29th Congress, he received the 11th highest number of votes (507) in the election to the 35-member PPP Central Committee on August 2, 2008.[3] He was then elected to the PPP Executive Committee and the Thunder editorial board on August 12, 2008.[4]

In 2012, because of his oversight portfolio over Guyana's security sector, Clement Rohee was accused of being responsible for the deaths of three unarmed protesters in the Guyanese mining town of Linden during a protest against economic conditions in that town.[5] He subsequently denied any responsibility for the killings at a special inquiry held in Guyana after the incident.[6]

In July 2012, Guyana's opposition-dominated parliament passed a no confidence motion against Rohee, which urged him to resign over parliament's lack of confidence in him running the security sector. The PPP government refused to adhere to the opposition motion.[7] The speaker of parliament later ruled that the opposition motion had no legal merit, and as such lifted the gagging motion against Rohee.

I'll answer my own dam question. He did fk all.

What is with the venom that you have against the PPP and this man?  It was Burnham and the PNC that drove you out of Guyana but yet you take it out on the PPP when they try to clean up the country of PNC bandits.

The better question is what the PNC ever accomplished in 30 years. The answer: Mo Fiah Slo Fiah, Kick Down Door, MURDER(Rodney, Teekah, Shirley, Bhola, Rampersaud) drape Blackie with the Flag, I can go on and on like the Energizer Bunny. But any Pea brain will get my drift!!!
