[www.inewsguyana.com] – A pre – election coalition with the Alliance For Change (AFC) is not idea that the ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has ever entertained, according to General Secretary Clement Rohee.

He told a news conference on Monday, January 26 that the idea is one which the leadership of the PPP will have to discuss

“We have never entertained such a thought,” Rohee said in response to a question.

He instead spoke of the pending coalition with A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and the AFC, commenting on which Party will grab the leadership posts.

“The AFC seems determined to have its way in having the number one spot in the presidential race even though it is by far the junior parties in terms of membership and influence,” Rohee said in a prepared statement.

Rohee believes that the PNC is in a serious dilemma on how to treat with the demands made by the AFC.

“Indeed, it certainly would have a lot of explaining of its sell out position to its membership and why it allowed itself to be manipulated by the AFC into selling out its interest to the AFC.”

Rohee opined that the AFC would not escape the wrath of its membership and supporters for reneging on an earlier commitment that it will never enter into any electoral alliance with the PNC.

“This about face can only be seen as a betrayal of its membership and a grand sell out on the altar of political opportunism.”

He noted that Guyana does not have a good history when it comes to coalition politics.

Leader of APNU, David Granger recently noted that a seven member team has been appointed by the APNU to lead the coalition talks. He said APNU Member and Parliamentarian, Carl Greenidge is the “chief negotiator.”

“The APNU has empowered its negotiating team to explore all the possibilities that could lead to a pre-election coalition,” Granger explained.

He admitted that the leadership posts discussion has not yet arisen,” but that it is “possible that whatever is raised in the negotiations will be open to the two sides and a determination will be made.”

The talks are expected to conclude within four weeks.

AFC has become a bunch of political rejects now begging with cap in hand.

The leadership of the AFC lacks basic political skills and the departure of Gerhard, TK and others has hurt and demoralized them to a point of extinction.

The PPP must ignore a desperate AFC which will approach them for a possible coalition after talks broke down with the PNC.

Those who are opposed to the PPP will continue to whine and complain but the PPP must move ahead since they have momentum going for them and in politics, this is very importance.

The opposition appears confused and scared with a sense of complete lack of direction.

PPP will crush the opposition at this election.

This fool keeps on saying this crap in just about every post of his but what he fails to realize is Gerhard and TK made a good move, it's part of the plan and will say no more on this. (yugi worried now, if he put whatever lil brain he has into gear maybe he will see the light)

Keep on braying yugi, we don't expect any better from you, you are the most stupid poster to visit this site at the moment, you are the reigning champ.

You are backing a dead horse AFC. A party than can only mobilize eight protesters at their "massive" rally and quite recently failed to attract any supporters at their "massive" political meeting in Corriverton.

Nowadays, the AFC is begging at Granger's doorstep. Granger will give them one kick.

Do you have any political ideas? Like, do you actually believe in anything beyond PPP/Coolie good vs. PNC/Negro bad?

The A.F.C sank to a new low, they are now actually negotiating in congress place for political survival. All the talk about an Independent party were all hogwash.

On the 11th May, the voting public would have the final say.

I think yugi is just one dem coolies that feel nice when they occasionally get to breathe the same air as someone with the title of "Minister"

If yugi was friends with PNC Ministers in the 1980s, he would be braying about how great the PNC is.

He's just a child who knows nothing about civil and civilized behavior.

Will the Guyanese Populace also have a final say?

They will likely win but the "left overs" will be a larger majority for the combined opposition. The tussle will be for them to work their will as they usually do and not get kicked in the shins.

I am not wishing...as one said in the movies "if it was me looking at the signs" the PPP would be threading softly. There are no good portends for them. Yammering nonsense like you do does not mean a damn thing.
