Regardless of what Gail Teixeira says today, she was Cheddi Jagan's personal secretary at Freedom House in 1977 when the PPP declared it was willing ready and able to form a national patriotic front government with Burnham's PNC, despite the fact that the same PNC had rigged the elections four years before.

Gail Teixeira was in the PPP Executive Committee in 1985 when Cheddi Jagan and Forbes Burnham were holding "secret" talks to form a coalition government, despite the fact that Walter Rodney was assassinated and the 1980 elections were rigged.

Long before Teixeira returned to Guyana from Canada, in 1963 Premier Cheddi Jagan offered Burnham 50% of his cabinet while PNC and UF thugs were rampaging through Georgetown.

What Moses Nagamootoo and Khemraj Ramjattan accomplished with the Cummingsburg Accord is what the honourable Cheddi Jagan tried valiantly to do but was not successful.

Cheddi Jagan always believed that Guyana's divisive politics could only end with a mutually beneficial pact with the PNC.
