Oscar Clarke and Vanessa Kissoon

[www.inewsguyana.com] – People’s National Congress Parliamentarian Vanessa Kissoon’s Region Ten Colleague Sharma Solomon is adamant that the suspended member be granted delegate status to participate in the 18th Biennial Congress which convenes this afternoon.

In a letter to the Party’s General Secretary, Oscar Clarke, the Region Ten [Linden] Chairman outlined that “consistent with Rule 15 (2) (d) of the Party Constitution, Kissoon is entitled to delegate status at the 18th Biennial Congress of the People’s National Congress Reform.”

In this regard, he made it clear that the members of PNCR Region 10 are advising that the General Secretary complies and provide her with the appropriate accreditation.

Chairman of Region 10, Sharma Solomon.

Chairman of Region 10, Sharma Solomon.

“Ms. Vanessa Kissoon is APNU Member of Parliament on the PNCR list,” the statement clarified.

iNews has learnt that the denial of delegate status to the Region Ten rep is not sitting well with the community and may result in much anticipate ruckus when the Congress convenes later today where another Region Ten Delegate – Aubrey Norton – is expected to go head to head with the current Leader, David Granger for the post.

Kissoon was suspended pending the recommendations of a Disciplinary Committee established to investigate into an alleged assault between herself and Clarke in May. The committee has had one meeting since and is yet to decide on the issue.

Kissoon will only be allowed to attend the Congress as an Observer or special invitee and will not be allowed to participate in any voting or be voted for any position.

She nonetheless remains active in her parliamentary capacity. Kissoon has traded words too with the Leader on her suspension.

PPP on over drive lashing the PNC Congress.

Is what really going on, this never happen in the history of Guyana.

When a party has its Congress, the opponent always respect that process and stay away from it?

I wonder why the PPP working so hard to get Granja out and Norton in?

How else can one explain the great effort and time the PPP expended on that statement? If the PNC had a leader that the PPP could have manipulated as it did Robert Corbin, we won't be reading this stinking statement today.

And, indeed, the PPP statement stinks to high heavens.

The PPP is shamelessly interfering in the internal affairs of the PNC.

The PPP is usurping the legitimate role of PNC groups and other bodies. The PPP is taking unscrupulous advantage of internal PNC family disputes.

The PPP is conveniently avoiding the issue of whether an alternative to Granger would be essentially different from him.

The PPP is taking political opportunism to an unprecedented high.

PPP founder-leader Cheddi Jagan never issued any statement before any PNC congress that lambasted Forbes Burnham to his own party faithfuls. David Granger is a cub compared to Burnham.

The current PPP leadership has demonstrated gross indecency and vulgarity in publishing that statement.

In addition to all the above, the PPP has no moral right to find faults with David Granger.

Mr Granger was elected by a democratic and transparent process, whereby he and his rivals had to face the general PNC membership at town-hall style meetings in Berbice, Demerara and Essequibo before making a final pitch at the last PNC congress.

To the contrary, the PPP is still stuck in the Stalinist process of democratic centralism, a process that is big on centralism and small on democracy. That is the process that turned out Clement J[oker] Rohee as titular PPP leader.

There is no doubt in my mind that the PPP's unprincipled statement was crafted chiefly by Rohee, himself the object of great disaffection and derision by many PPP members.

Thank you Sir.  I have not been able to give much attention for the past week.  But expect me to be on GNI tomorrow, a stay at home day.  Time to carry some JUMBIE lash pun the PPP.

Conscience, you come on this board early morning to post this photo with malicious intent.

I attended PPP congresses in 1970, 1974, 1982, 1985 and 1988. I can tell you from personal experience that the PPP official welcoming delegates and observers did not shake the hand of everyone who passed through the registration desk.

You people are working overtime to squeeze political mileage out of the PNC's internal business. It reflects clearly the desperation of the PPP which is at its lowest ebb.

You may have a very valid point there Gilly.

The PPP has no shame. The party is clutching at the Vanessa Kissoon straw when it is guilty of treating its own contemptuously.

Essequibian Isahack Basir has been a PPP activist since around 1960. He was a PPP parliamentarian for decades. Due largely to his popularity and magnetism, lots of Essequibians voted PPP over the years.

Last year the PPP held its congress. It was alleged that Isahack Basir was circulating a list to Party people on the Essequibo Coast prior to the congress. It was alleged that Basir's list suggested who should be voted for Central Committee places. It was alleged that Basir's list excluded Bharrat Jagdeo.

Isahack Basir was making big preparations to attend the congress when, two days before, he received a telephone call from someone at Freedom House. That person informed Basir that Bharrat Jagdeo instructed that his name be struck off the delegation from the Essequibo Coast. Isahack Basir was warned not to show up at the PPP congress.

The poor man stayed at home, disappointed that the Party for which he slaved decades had humiliated him like that.

But being the gentleman that he is, not being shameless like the Freedom House cabal, Basir licked his wounds in silence and didn't rush to the Chronicle, Guyana Times or Mirror to complain and protest. He did not turn up at the congress venue to incite a brawl. Although in advanced age, he is still volunteering his time to do PPP-related tasks on the Essequibo Coast.

The PPP has no moral right to meddle in PNC internal affairs when it has done worse than the PNC to its own people.

Gilly.

I doan know why u continue to paint the Jagans as political saints. The Jagans covertly continued a smear campaign on Forbes Burnham his entire life since he split with the PPP. CBJ and JJ did not have to mount an verbal attack on the PNC on their congress gathering, every arm of the PPP did that every day.

The PPP should be worried about themselves. If their grassroot supporters decided to challenge the present administrators of the PPP at Freedom House

and have them all replaced, many ministers would fall from grace-due corrupt practices. That would be devastating to current group of thieves in the PPP. Perhaps, that would be welcomed by many PPP elites as the way to remove Jagdeo from the Party.

A lot of people will look at protests at the PNC congress as a negative thing but I actually think its a good thing.

Have you ever been to a democratic or republican convention in the US? or a primary? Its complete madness to an outsider who has never been there before they have the same stuff going on.

Guyana may be turning the corner after all.

This Gilbakka poster shows more loyalty and devotion to the PNC's leader than the incarnated and re-incarnated PNCites. Why is Gilbakka, an alleged Jaganite from the dark era be such a person? Is he on an opportunistic mission to capture something special for himself by sucking up to the PNC strong-man? All his posts glorify the strong-man whose hands cannot be washed clean of the blood of the ballot box martyrs. His constant yearnings for PNC victory runs counter to the dreams of  the Guyanese people. Nothing on this earth can obliterate the damages that Guyana and its people suffered for a generation under the rule of the PNC which Granger was part and parcel of.

Gilbakka is attempting to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. All his work and lies on GNI will end un in a fiasco. Your lies and white-washing of the PNC can only go so far. Your optimism of a PPP defeat based on decline of the Indo-population will not work for the all peoples of Guyana voted for the PPP and not just the Indians.

Cries of corruption is exaggerated. Expecting less corruption from those in opposition is insance and deceiving.

D_G, personally go and make  that statement to the people at Black Bush Polder and experience their reaction towards you. Caution: Make sure you wear your protective vest and steel helmet.

Billy, get one thing straight. I am not here to pander to your racial bias or to please your corrupt PPP. I have decided in my mind that your PPP is irredeemable and must go.

Regarding my political preferences, I would vote for the AFC if given the chance.

You can fill your mind with whatever ideas you want. With my journalistic training and long work experience, I see nothing wrong with relaying PNC news in this public GNI space. I see nothing wrong in even supporting some ideas put forward by David Granger. No reasonable person in his right mind will dismiss Granger's speech outright.

You don't like my point of view, Billy? No problem. I don't like your either.
