Petra/Corona Beer Invitational Football tournament… Beacons, Pele and Northern Rangers enjoy exciting wins at GFC ground

Play in the Petra Organization organized Top Brandz Corona Beer Invitational Football Tournament continued at the Georgetown Football Club ground with a triple header on Friday despite the inclement weather that day.
Beacons Football club were unbothered by the elements as they put 7 goals past Black Pearl in the first of three matches on that match day.
Darien Dickson along with Quason McAulay scored a brace each in the emphatic win. Darien Dickson started the rout with Beacon’s first goal in the 17th minute and he completed his brace in the 50th minute.
McAulay goals came in the 26th and 47th minute. Kimba Braithwaite 29th minute, Patrick Joseph, 76th minute and Keifer Brandt 81st minute all contributed a goal each to the Beacons victory.
Game-2
This match was another one sided affair as Pele defeated Flamingo 5-0.
Pele produced numerous dangerous moves through counterattacks and predominantly build-up plays and Flamingo’s defence finally gave-in during the 27th minute of play when 17-year old Queen’s College student, Stephon Hussain scored the first of his brace.
Despite his youth, the wide attacking midfielder played maturely completed his brace in the75th minute.
Thairys Payne had doubled Pele’s lead in the 34th minute with his solitary goal, while Dorwin George 71st and Mark Jhalu 76th got past the hapless Flamingo goalkeeper to complete the rout.
Stephon Hussain, speaking to Kaieteur News after the win, expressed delight with the win and current team chemistry, “Everything is coming together for the team, we’re happy with the result and we just want to take it one win at a time as we continue to improve.”
Game -3
The third and final game of the night between Santos and Northern Rangers didn’t follow the pattern of the previous two matches. Northern Rangers won that game 3-1.
Santos would have definitely been disappointed after allowing Rangers back into the game after leading 1-0 up to the 73rd of the 90-minute match after Kacy John had given the losers the lead since the 22nd minute.
However, three late goals including an own goal gave the more hungry Northern Rangers the win.
Quincy Madramooto led the fight back when he netted in the 74th minute and former national youth cricketer, Steven Sankar, gave rangers the lead in the 85th minute, while Santos conceded the own goal during stoppage time.
The tournament continues today with three matches at the Georgetown Football Club ground from 5 pm.
Riddim Squad opens proceedings against East Veldt, while following at 7:00pm Western Tigers challenge Camptown and in the nightcap at 9:00pm Police tangle with GFC.
