Businessman robbed, beaten by masked bandits

Crime scene[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Police in ‘D’ Division are on the hunt for three armed men who robbed and injured two West Bank Demerara residents on Thursday night.

According to a police report, at about 19:10 hrs on October 29, three masked men armed with handguns entered the grocery shop of 52 – year – old Mohabir Singh, of First Street, Goed Fortuin, WBD, gun- butted him to his head and escaped with a quantity of cash, in a waiting vehicle.

It was noted that a customer, Sherwin Mayers, 37 years, was also relieved of his cellular phone and $20,000 in cash.

According to the Force, the Police in ‘D’ Division recently dismantled a criminal networking gang and they are positive that this gang would be apprehended soon since they are narrowing in on their investigations.

iNews understands that the Goed Fortuin village has an active and vibrant Community Policing Group under the Chairmanship of Mr. Vickram Vieira but unfortunately the group was not out on patrol during the robbery.
