Previous administration’s negligence led to March prison unrest – Granger

President David Granger says the “March disturbances” at the Camp Street Prison which led to the deaths of 17 prisoners was a result of the previous administration’s negligence.

Responding to questions on “The Public Interest” last week, the President said that when the coalition took over the government in May last year it met a “stack of unimplemented recommendations” from previous inquiries into the prison system and from the Disciplined Forces Commission.

Asked if recommendations from the inquiry into the prison system after the 2002 jailbreak were implemented the President said, “It’s more than that. That inquiry was held in the wake of the…to continue reading this article, please subscribe.  Already a

So after Granger and his Coalition government was given these unimplemented recommendations last May, why didn't his government implemented them in time to prevent the March disturbances? How big is the Camp Street Jail anyway? Now consider that while he had no time to implement those recommendations, he had enough time to release 60 prisoners within two weeks of becoming President. One get the impression that this government can't wait to leave office in 2020 since they seem to be in a place where they are very uncomfortable. While everyone can wish to be President, not everyone knows how to be President.

The man is a FOOL and should NEVER be addressed as President!!!!!!!!

A real president takes responsibility for whatever happens under his watch, not one that passes the blame around to others. In terms of addressing him, I never sees him as a legitimate president of Guyana.

The incompetency is palpable.  The PNC are in free fall and cannot figure how to pull the nose up.  The way things are going, they could be headed for an implosion!

The economy is in disarray, criminal gangs are rampant, people are disenchanted, the leadership lacks leadership, infighting on the rise, they seem to have no clue where to start and the boogie man PPP has lost its appeal.  The PNC/AFC are now generating their own scandals!

Don't be surprised if Guyana headed to the polls pre-2020!
