Speaker disallows questions on president’s pardons

-Nandlall says scrutiny of executive being obstructed

Speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Barton Scotland has disallowed questions by opposition MP Anil Nandlall on the convicts who were pardoned by President David Granger, arguing that they amount to “an abuse of the right of questioning.”

Nandlall, a former Attorney-General, said he was “astonished” by the ruling and accused the Speaker of obstructing the work of the Parliament, whose role is to scrutinise the Executive.

Where are the voices of Mitwah, d2 and the others who were screaming for transparency under the PPP govt? Once these boys obtained power through questionable means, they immediately discarded calls for transparency.

A question was put [to disclose decisions made by the President]

the reply is

Abuse of the right of questioning.

It appears decisions made by the President of Guyana cannot be questioned by members of parliament.

Is this constitutional ??

Just like the time the policeman at Temehri told me that I am "not allowed to look".

What is the purpose of Members of Parliament if they are not allowed to ask questions? It is not like Nandalall asked it in a cussup manner like how Moses called Jagdeo a bully in a cussup manner.

Back in the old Burnham days when Sase Narine was speaker, he used to throw Jagan out of Parliament for asking questions also. That is why I maintain that the Burnham days are back.

Long Live Burnhan!!!!!!

Burnham Zindabad!!!!!

APNU AFC didn't win the election under means that were any more questionable than when the PPP won in 1992.

Do you know that you look as foolish as Hammie Green looked when he screamed that the PPP rigged the election in 1992, and then he sent his goons to create mayhem. Good thing Hoyte told him to behave himself.
