Any input on St. John's or Hunter College in New York. My niece got accepted in both and not sure which one to go to?

They have only moved to NY about two years ago so not too sure about the schools over there. She got an $8,000 scholarship for the first semester at St. John but it seems to be a very expensive school if she has to pay her way.

Depends on the major.
Hunter is a city college. St. Johns is private college.

Rosi, congratulations to your niece on her scholarship award. My suggestion: Have her make an appointment with a counselor at both colleges to help her make an informed decision.

Way too expensive for undergrad.

My son went to St John's for his law degree but he got a full scholarship.

My son went to CUNY for his undergrad and my daughter who will be graduating high school this year will also be attending a City College.

Its celebration every day at my house. This morning I went into my daughter's room and was dancing for 15 mins. I was dancing to HIP hOP

She looked at me and was like...do your thing.

My SIL is a graduated of HUNTER.

also a relative is a Prof there.

like CHief said, for undergrad..CUNY is a good education at a fair price

The secret is to go to a CUNY school and get a 4.0 then apply to do graduate studies at an IVY League. You save money and you get a great degree for your advanced studies.

Thanks again everyone. I know she wants to do engineering. Hunters has accepted her in the Arts and Science program. She said St. Johns is extremely expensive. I don't know her GPA or how that works but she's 95% in all her subjects.

Well I guess her Guyana education paid off well because she skipped one grade when she moved over here because she was way ahead when she did the assessment to entry into high school over there.

Actually I have to give credit to a lot of private lessons as well.
