I don't watch these pageants but i saw a picture of Ms. Guyana on Facebook in her national costume and it appears as if she was walking a big bramble bush on a leash. Seriously.

Hehe..afterall gy gat nuff bush. She ain't bad, but the competition was too hot for her..Have not watched in a few years but enjoyed it this year.

I watched the Swim Suit segment then went to bed dreaming of Ms Colombia and Jamaica.

There is absolutely no excuse for participating with a bush!

A Brazillian wax only costs around $50.  Deplorable behavior I say!

I didn't care after Ms. Guyana wasn't picked in the top 15.

Bai, I hear Guyana got lots of Brazilian bush nowadays.

The crowd was very disappointed she came in 5th.  That says it all.

Lots of Jamaicans live around FIU so I wasn't surprised by the protests.  My daughter goes to FIU also. Chemistry major.

Cool, is she headed to Medical School after that. 

Pharmacy school. She is enrolled in the Honor College there and so far on the Deans list with a better than 3.7 GPA. But sometimes I feel sorry for her because she has to bust her tail to get through her classes. Part of the requirement since the school gave her a full scholarship. Not altogether bad though because by the time she finish her sophomore year in May, she will have 82 credits completed. Now she seem focused on me buying her a Scion FRS Monogram.

Something like the 7 years itch.   The girl came about 7 years after marriage and the boy came about 7 years after the girl.

I didn't mind Chami. As long as I was getting a lot of practice, I was fine with the wait.

Great job by mom and dad.  Yeps,for the Pharmacy program here if you get in straight from High School it is 6 years, but if you do a bachelors and then try to go it is another 4 years.  Good career choice though.

 

My older one is 17 and in 11th grade so she has some time to decide majors. 

 

The more the merrier, children are blessings.  We have 2 girls born 5 years apart, would have been 3 but the middle one was born a 'preemie' and did not make it.  Have fun in Guyana. 

She is really doing well. Thanks Chami. Incidentally, the boy seem smarter. Sometimes he will be discoursing with her on her school work and his mom would ask him how he knows all that stuff. His reply "who doesn't know that". I do hope that his hormones don't get the better of him. You know how us guys can get distracted easily.

This was more my fault. NSE has a pharmacy school but I was afraid since she couldn't transfer her classes there elsewhere. NSE PharmD program right out of high school is actually 5 years. Outside of NSE, the closest school was Tampa and I wasn't ready to let her leave home two years ago. So I convinced her to go to FIU and promised to send her to any pharmacy school she wants to go to afterwards. Maybe I am only buying time. Still not ready to send her away.

Sorry to hear about the middle child Leena.

Yeps, we will never be ready to send ours away.  Hoping they go to schools where they can come home, however let's see where they get accepted to, have to change courses some times.

Bai warrior, at the birth of our kids, parents emotions are flooded with all kind of emotions especially gratitude. As those kids grow up, they provide many moments of memories that we eventually come to realize we would be poorer without. Them doing well is another stage where they can add additional joy. And this is where this topic is about to take another turn. The other day, Colin Cowherd was talking about rich spoilt kids and he dwelled on Warren Buffet planning to leave his kids no inheritance. I couldn't do that. I feel that the only reason I seek the good of this world is so myself and family can benefit from them. This is not about not giving to others. Apparently some people think that leaving kids golden parachutes is wrong because they will become spoilt kids. I don't believe that and if I were to analyze Buffet's pronouncement, I might say that he is demonstrating that he feels that he has failed as a parent to teach them well if he thinks that they cannot appreciate life and its gifts if they don't earn it themselves. I have no intentions of depriving my kids of any comfort in life. How do you feel about that? 

These GNI folks are way past any kind of representation.

Here is my daughter's most recent grade. She has been in school for less than two years and has not done any less than making the Dean's list. At this point, she is in the magna Cum laude level

first two years,at first i encourage him to to do

engineering after first year he switched to BA,

graduated last year,now he wants to be his

own boss venturing into RE.

My older one is in 11th grade and sporting a GPA of 4.35.  Darn I thought 4.0 was the max, but apparently because she is taking 6 AP classes (College level), the 'weightings' per AP class is higher.

 

Little one surprised us and got a perfect score in STATE Math tests.

 

 

You are correct Leena. AP classes help to boost one's GPA. Congratulations on your kids' accomplishments. I believe my girl finished high school at 4.6 but her cousin finished at 5.6. Last year the boy being in 5th grade got three 5s at the state test. He had perfect score in two subjects and missed a perfect score by one point in the third. I think he is much brighter than the girl. Time will tell.
