The Guyana Draughts Association completed the third leg of the Association’s Annual National Championship last weekend at the Racquet Centre Board Room. The game was contested on the 100 square boards.
Mark Brathwaite with six points emerged the winner in that competition. This is the first win for Mark in this format of the game. However, the game came to a close finish with four other players each finishing on five points.
The tie breakers saw Devanand Persaud take the second position, while Shawn Weekes and Ulric Brathwaite placed third and fourth respectively.
All the players were awarded with trophies and small gifts.
Over the past three weeks three new Champions were crowned in three different categories, Devanand Persaud in the ‘B’ class, Jiaram in the ‘A’ and Mark Brathwaite in the 100 Square.
The games continue this weekend at the Shaheed Boys Orphanage in Alexander Street Kitty where the boys and girls from this institution would vie for the Championship.
