Fraser, Reese and Beckles head to holding area

Three Lindeners were each placed on $100,000 bail on Friday, after they allegedly hammered a man they accused of stealing, causing him to be hospitalized.

Lindon Fraser, Mcfile Reese and Selwyn Beckles all of Mackenzie, Linden, appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine- Beharry to answer a charge of inflecting grievous bodily harm to Vandyke Johnson.

The police claimed that the trio allegedly beat Johnson in a roadside brawl that caused Johnson to seek medical attention.

According to them, the three defendants accused Johnson of stealing and as such attacked him. The police said in the act, Johnson armed himself with a cutlass while the men used sticks and pieces of wood.

It was mentioned that the complainant in the matter also had to be charged since he too was an aggressor in the matter. The court heard that after Johnson was released from the hospital, he never returned to the police station and has since not been contacted.

The unrepresented trio was then granted the $100,000 bail. They were also placed on a bond to keep the peace since the police did not object to their pre-trial liberty.

Fraser, Reese and Beckles will appear at the Christiansburg Magistrate Court on January 8.
