Letter to the Sports Editor… Cricket Development in Berbice, Interference and or Sabotage

Sep 24, 2017 Sports, https://www.kaieteurnewsonline...nce-and-or-sabotage/

Dear Editor,
It is with disgust and anger that I pen this missive. Editor, I had the opportunity to read a letter to the Editor of the Stabroek News dated Thursday 18th September 2017,written by the Secretary/CEO of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club MS, captioned “Those in the Management of Cricket are more interested in settling old scores “.
Editor, the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club MS is among the best if not the best managed Clubs both locally and regionally, and it was with surprise that, though not unexpected, that the Guyana Cricket Board would extend its Octopus like arms through its officers, in this case Mr. Colin Stuart to stifle and sabotage the growth of a Club that is deemed to be unsupportive of the tyrannical clutches of a particular official of this organisation. It is no secret that the Guyana Cricket Board sought to gain control of the Berbice Cricket Board using questionable means to install a chosen Executive Committee of the Berbice Cricket Board of Control.
This attempt to seize control of the Berbice Cricket Board was successfully challenged by two former executives in the persons of Messrs. Rabindranauth Saywack and Albert Smith, in the High Court of Judicature in New Amsterdam. This court challenge resulted in a ruling by the Honorable Justice Navindra Singh in chambers on the 08-09-2017 in which the meeting to elect Mr. Somwaroo was deemed to be illegal, null and void, Mr. Somwaroo’s election to the Presidency be null and void and of no legal effect, most importantly an order to have elections on October 8th, 2017, among other things.
In the conversation with Mr. Foster Mr. Colin Stuart, Territorial Development Officer attached to the Guyana Cricket Board was pellucid when he said to Mr. Foster that he was asked /ordered sic to inform Mr. Foster that only the Guyana Cricket Board can organize cricket competitions in Guyana, however if this is so then this TDO and his bosses at the GCB have been very delinquent in organizing cricket in Guyana. These “power drunk” persons have not organized any cricket in Berbice and further have been withholding all subventions to the Berbice Cricket Board over the years, and to put the icing on the cake, they arranged loyal persons to seek a restraining order against the Berbice Cricket Board of Control in March 2015 allowing the barest of functions such as administrative, logistical and financial functions relating to teams participating in cricket competitions held by, and or representing Berbice Cricket Board. This action by Messrs.
David Black and Godwyn Allicock smacks of sabotage of Berbice Cricket, the same as instructions to Mr. Foster. It is no doubt that these actions resulted in the decline of the standard of cricket in Berbice, yet these very persons now want to manage cricket in Berbice, Shame On You. Get Lost.

Berbice Cricket Stakeholders Committee.
