Letter to the Sports Editor… AUDIT RHTYSC ACCOUNTS

Sep 24, 2017 Sports, https://www.kaieteurnewsonline...dit-rhtysc-accounts/

Dear Sports Editor,
Over the years I observed the gradual rise of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club and must congratulate Mr. Hilbert Foster and his brother Alex on their excellent PR, not to mention ability to publicize their charitable and not so charitable work.
One former Human resource manager at GUYSUCO even mentioned to me that the Fosters have “professionalized the art of begging”; I beg to differ and posit that these guys have perfected the art of using other people’s money.
Using newspaper articles as evidence, Hilbert Foster executed about 700 activities for the year and has about 365 sponsors. This is quite phenomenal and he must be congratulated.
The problem though is assuming each sponsor gives him 200,000 Guyana Dollars, and I am aware of one sponsor giving a Million Dollars for the Patron Cup, Hilbert Foster would have collected at least 72 Million Dollars for the year. Considering that not much is actually spent on the activities since he also solicits “in kind” donations and fully utilize the” food for the poor” resources, almost all of these funds must be sitting in a bank account.
Our Laws require that even Churches have their accounts audited.
Recently, I saw President Granger, Patron of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, collecting money on behalf of the organization. I am sure that this good gentleman does not know when (if ever) the accounts of this Club/Charity/Church were audited. I am told by a former club member that the accounts were not audited in, at least, 15 years.
We must not keep our heads in the sand as everyone on the Corentyne is aware that Hilbert profits off the cricket competitions and other activities so let us ensure that he accounts for the spending of donations.
President Granger, the patron, must demand accountability.

Yours Sincerely,
Concerned Citizen of Rose Hall.
