I would like to make a suggestion for Moderator Ray to implement a very strict anti racism policy on GNI.

For too long, the two major races in Guyana have been fighting old battles that is no longer worth fighting for.

The young generation has already adopted a non racist attitude and the old generation must do their part.

Please join me in my call. I am the first to Raise up my hand and pledge to fight racism. Let us all chip in.

We will continue to fight our political battles but let us end racism now.

And what do you define as being non racist?  Turning a blind eye to the blatant racism perpetuated by various interests in Guyana?  Pretending as if this hasn't led to a high levels of ethnic paranoia manifested in broad swathes of the population of Guyana?

We can debate about whether young Guyanese don't exhibit their own manifestations or not.  What is beyond debate is that societies are run by Boomers (those in the 50s and 60s) and most of these people have been shaped by the various ethnic insecurity dilemmas.

So if it is that you think that any discussion of racism, or ethnicity is racist, you are wrong.  What is racist is when one claims (or implies) that one race is better/worse than another. An example being when the PPP mouth piece, the Chronicle, wrote an ENTIRE editorial damning Afro Guyanese as being violent, criminal, lazy, and a people who have made no positive contribution to Guyana.

The PPP has NEVER withdrawn those claims, or apologized for allowing them to be made in the first place!

No he has done that before.  You see he defines any attack on the PPP as being "racist" and so is imploring people to just "behave" themselves and just accept what ever the PPP does.

I think that being pointed out that the PPP is now using Burnham's goons is what has triggered that.

Guyana’s AG Anil Nandlall missed his moment to inspire the Guyanese people on ‘Arrival day’; instead spewed racism & message of hate

 http://onevoicecanwin.com/?p=2327

Georgetown, Guyana: May 6, 2013 — When I was a child in school, one of my favorite books was about a vain & foolish turtle named Martin Muraqoi. The book began, ‘Martin Muraqoi was as vain as he was sillyâ€Ķ..” The barely coherent, and shamelessly dunce Anil Nandlall; who through political favor, was bestowed the undeserved title of Attorney General, is Guyana’s modern day Martin Muraqoi.  Sadly, no one has yet dared to share with the AG that his numerous, not so secret personal exploits, his loyalty to his PPPC masters at the expense of the people of Guyana, his obsession with the sunglasses worn indoors and the constant pestering of news people over photos of him published are some of the more pressing issues which have taken precedence in his life causing him to be unable to properly discharge his responsibilities to the people of Guyana.

Nandalal has made no attempt to perform the very serious functions his position requires in the lawless Republic of Guyana. Instead his role has been reduced to PPPC propagandist and errand boy for Jagdeo the pupet master and the hapless & manipulated President Ramotar.

Yesterday his masters unleashed him to rile up the masses with the obligatory racist diatribe about the PNC’s rule of Guyana more than 20 years again, about how the PPPC government was doing ‘OK’ on press freedom, about deaths of ‘Indo-Guyanese’ over a ballot box conflict more than 30 years ago. Anil “the dunce” Nandilall, yesterday reiterated the old tired racist PPPC party line, once again underestimating the party’s constituents, who continue to suffer from massive floods, limited access to quality education, massive poverty, child prostitution, raping of the treasury by government officials and the scourge of an endless stream of violence against women in Guyana.

As Nandall rambled through his speech offering the audience lines like ‘the immortality of former Presidents Cheddie and Janet Jagan’  [he should really look up the meaning of the word], what he did not share was the PPPC’s big vision for Guyana’s tomorrow. He did not share with his audience PPPC’s plans for healing and unifying Guyana, for dealing with the scourge of domestic violence killing & maiming hundreds of women in Guyana. He didn’t mention PPPC’s plans for proactively dealing with the flood threat which predictably results in loss of crops, livestock, rampant spread of water borne diseases resulting in deaths of children in many communities across Guyana.  Nandlall also failed to mention the plan to improve the quality of education and to lower the escalating school drop-out rates.

The people anxiously waited for Nandlal to share his government’s plan to reduce maternal deaths in the squalid public health care system in Guyana where patients share beds; often with the dead, and where a patient with a gunshot wound to the head was sent home with painkillers because there was ‘no one’ there to tend to his injury and ‘it wasn’t life threatening’. He didn’t share his plan for ensuring that rice farmers would be paid a fair price for their produce and that the PPPC crony rice Millers would make attempts to pay struggling farmers in a more timely manner. There was much Anil “the dunce” Nandlall failed to share with the Guyanese people yesterday.

As Nandlall whined about the budget cuts, he failed to tell his constituents that millions of taxpayer dollars that could go to the improvement of schools, hospitals, electricity, roads, waters supply and crime control are being stolen by government officials under the guise of expenditures on ‘mega projects’ like the airport expansion project, the specialty hospital, and the hydro-electric project. Projects which lack proper plans and transparency and which have been routinely used by the PPPC government to enrich Ministers and their friends.

What Anil ‘the dunce’ Nandlall and the PPPC fail to realize is that the people know that they are criminals. The people know that they extort businessmen, that they possess foreign bank accounts, that they own more homes, property, gold claims & land than people of their paychecks should be able to afford. The people are aware of the rampant corruption and theft and the people are growing weary of their lies and doublespeak.

What Guyana’s dunce AG also failed to share with Guyanese citizens is that although Africans were already in Guyana for nearly 200 years before the arrival of indentured laborers, and that our Hinterland brothers and sisters were here even longer, the history of our people should not be reduced to a day for shameless ethnic pandering. What is also clear is that the human suffering historically inflicted by the power elite in Guyana continues today unabated. It is ironic that Nandlall took the time to lambaste colonial rule while his PPPC government & their crony friends are working overtime to revive colonialist policies and to engineer the resurgence of a rigid caste system in Guyana.

But the biggest racist is the PPP poster especially YUJI and REV?

HO.  Power slipping from their hands and they are desperate.

But the Afro Guyanese knows who are the PPP and will NEVER vote for them.

APNU will get 140,000 votes in 2016.

What will the PPP get?  125,000?  130,000?

That is the question.

Let me get this; are you saying you have undergone a serious and intensive program to  address your own racism? As far I as I am concern you can go puke on yourself in a corner. Very few people on this site ever embraced a racist ideology as firmly as you have. No one believes you simply wake up and have a cathartic moment and decide not to be a racist? You are a known skunk so you we still smell you.

No, Mits. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

BTW, if anyone has a PDF copy of Halim Majeed's book and wants to share, it would be appreciated. Offhand, I don't know the title but it's only one book he wrote anyway.

Sensible people would delimit the scope of groundless declarative statements like that by the parenthetical; "In my opinion......" But you are a dummy and generalize with no explanatory evidence but  the hot air in your head.

Yugi, please post the PPP/C plans to bridge the great race divide in Guyana. Please explain, why the  negroes in the PPP are kept as house slaves. The black people are saying that the most lucrative positions are given to Indians, PPP friends and family and that the PPP has a plan to Indianize Guyana.

Remember Bharat Jagdeo infamous speech at Babu Jaan?

Remember Anil's infamous  speech at highbury?

Aren't you offended as some one who "claims" to be against racism by the remarks made by the Chronicle.

I bet if the New Nation wrote lengthily that Indians are a money hungry and unpatriotic people who lack interest in any thing unless they can derive profit from it, you would be loudly screaming about such racist remarks.

But when similar levels of racism, attacking with racial stereotypes popular in Guyana, are directed against Afro Guyanese you seem shocked that some one might be offended by this.

Hmmmm!  I have long suspected that some people just want the status quo to remain with (to quote your hero Cheddi Jagan) "with blacks at the bottom".  And don't pretend that he wasn't your hero, now that it is less fashionable to do so.

You only now discovering this?  Before you fled the PPP you were among those who called me a racist for saying exactly that?

Does resolving that problem really interest you, or are you just using it as a missile to lob against the PPP, when many in the private sector are no different?

Even if the PPP finds qualified blacks many private sector entities still claim that they cannot.  And this is where the bulk of the job opportunities are.  Not as under paid low and mid tier civil servants.

FM

Any way yuji your PPP has treated blacks in Guyana much as the upper caste treated the ancestors of those who migrated to Guyana.  As low level scum.

This has now come to bite the PPP. APNU will rally their base, for no reason other than they see a much diminished and desperate PPP, so will put aside their gripe with Corbin/Granger for now.

The PPP now has to contend with Indians "fleeing the PPP plantation",  sees most Amerindians as not giving a damn about what coastlanders do, and so sees prospects of a majority government less likely, and a loss to APNU as not an impossibility.

Now if only you had treated Afro Guyanese better you might have been able to woo some of them over without having to offer soup or milk!

Nah true Carib

If the AFC wins (unlikely) they will run right to them.  Nah true HM-Redux.  I mean many in the AFC were in the PPP when these thugs began to arrive, and seem silent then.  Trotman was in the PNC and did he object to these folks?

It doesn't matter what govt is elected. Yes if the AFC is elected these PPP/PNC thugs would find themselves right in the middle of them as well.

Carib, the dynamics of party members' behaviour in Guyana are such that party discipline trumps individual opinions. Neither Trotman nor ex-PPPites now in the AFC could freely express contrary views without some measure of official lashback. In fact, Khemraj Ramjattan got into hot water a few times for expressing unorthodox views at Freedom House. And Moses got the cold shoulder for supporting Ramjattan's views.

Bitter experience has taught party members to remain silent if they want to move up the various levels, from group up to the central committee.

So, we ought not to hold it against anyone who didn't openly object to the PPP's embrace of ex-PNC thugs. In trying to forge cooperation, it's better to overlook certain past actions and focus on the main goal: the removal of the corrupt and undemocratic PPP regime.

And that is fine but let us not pretend as if those in the AFC are virtuous.  If they saw wrong they cou8ld have resigned before they actually did.  But expediency and personal ambitions meant that they didn't.

Please define your understanding of what the word racism means, and how it applies to my statement?

You will note that I referenced BOTH former PPP and PNC members who are now leaders in the AFC.
