We have a cultural problem. We make it way too easy for people to consider suicide as a "logical" solution to life's difficulties. Also, we don't spend any attention to mental health issues. We have this social stigma of mental health that discourages identification and treatment of at risk individuals.

In Guyana, most suicides come from not being able to deal with life challenges.

In most cases 'finding a gal fa de bai' could end up disastrously, because there is no courting to understand each other, prior to marriage.

Which insane father will allow his 17 year old daughter to marry a 40 year old man, but it happens.

Schools need to allow  more interaction between male and female students, to gain coed relationship skills.

Any effective program in Guyana needs to teach how to deal with small things that trouble people, then move to big things.

Even without substance abuse, most in Guyana gets emotional and angry too quickly, because they are not able to articulate how to deal with stress and personal challenges.

Hopelessness in Guyana also plays a big part in suicide cases.

Dealing only with reasons why people commit suicide is only a band aid solution.

What a remarkably stupid thing to say? "It's a global problem"

Aren't all problems global problems??

Is it impossible for a PPPite to address a Guyanese issue with reference to Guyana without resorting to the old "bai, world market bad" excuse.

every issue is deflected by an appeal to the globe.

Poverty in Guyana? Bai Merica get nuff poor people.

Crime in Guyana? Bai Merica get nuff crime.

If suicide is affecting top government people personally, why is the government not doing more about it ?

And screwing NGOs who attempt to reduce the problem.

Globally, other countries have programs to deal with it, what has Guyana got ?

DISORGANIZATIO ON YOUR PART, DOES NOT CONSTUTUTE AN EMERGENCY ON MY PART.

(2) Paranoid link of (1) & (3): Social stigma applied to the disorder of society as the utilization of reason by the mentally ill to associate logical order as prescribed by society facilitates seclusion because few will listen. The conscience does see this as logical due to emotion in the mind of the schizophrenic by disconnection of concern because of alienation and loss of self-identification creating a catalyst for insanity as the Demerara bridge. Feeling alone with more than life's difficulties perceived in silence as the projected assumption of others show bias of misunderstanding on their faces away from the intellect of the mentally ill as their memories are not manifest. This loss is tragic and a joke about the PPP is insensitive as one elevates his identification with loss of the importance of social contact to defy hurt generating guilt with no comprehension.
